Harrison Perry

In the 1860 Slave Schedule, Harrison was a black slave owner in Harrison County, which was known as Fayette-Harrison County. Although it shows him as a slave owner, family member have said that he was a mulatto and it was common for his slave master father to will his properties to slaves after his death. However, there is a suspicion that they were usually offspring. It seems that he lost most of his property after slavery, but gained it back before he died. Also the poll tax receipts, which he had to pay in order to vote were inclued inhis book.At the time of his death, he owned 200 acres, a covered carriage, several horses, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys and gunnies.
